Foufs.
I had a date with Courtney last weekend to see the Darkest Hour show, which was sooooo amazing.
Anywho, before the show we had a few beers at Foufs. I realized a few things that amazes me about that bar... one being that I think it has actually become a familiar place to me, which I can call my home bar. Yes, it might be temporary, but I finally feel like I could perhaps call Montreal my home, and every home has a to have a bar. No I'm not particularly fond of Foufs, say... on ladies night, or even any other late night thing/show they have going on there, but it was the first bar that I was introduced to during my short stint as a messenger in Montreal. So it holds this kinda summer time after courier beer nostalgia thing for me, which I think provides some kinda stability for me. Yeah, I know that might sound a little strange, but it possess some kinda stable landmark quality for me, in many ways. One, it has excellent directional geography for me to figure out where I am in the world ("and where in relation to Foufs is that?".) Two, anyone that's coming from outta town you can always take them there or ask them to meet you there. Three, its amazing layout, and atheistic value, with is big wonderful spider, and its peeling Tim Barnard mural (which I think they recently covered.) Last but of course not least, the bartender. I don't know his name, and he's been working there since the dawn of time, (from what Ive been told) has always been so sweet to me, always buying me shots or beer, but never in a creepy way, perhaps its cause I always tip him well. Oh! and the new outdoor heaters that I just discovered... ohhh ahhhhh... just another one of those shiny things.
So here a cheers to Foufs, and to Courtney for the great conversation and company.
